Once I found out I was pregnant, I could not wait to tell Mike! Although the suspense was killing me, I kept it a secret for a few days so that I could plan a very special way to break the news. So many ideas crossed my mind. I spent days pondering... I was so nervous because I wanted it to be perfect. I was also nervous because Mike picks up on everything.
The weekend was nearing and I knew Mike had to work Saturday and Sunday. With him out of the house, I was happy to be able to figure out my surprise plan and not worry about him finding out. Finally, I decided on a surprise dinner. I compiled a menu that contains all "baby" items, such as mixed baby greens salad, baby lamp chops, baby carrots, baby potatoes, and baby bunt cakes for dessert.
On Sunday, I spent all day preparing. Grocery shopping, digging through my garage for the right decor, photographing the positive pregnancy test, and cooking the meal. I had everything set up perfectly and sat patiently at the dining room table awaiting his arrival. When he walked in, he didn't seem to realize what was going on. His first question was, "why are we eating dinner so early?" - we generally eat pretty late, and almost never eat right when he gets off work. I told him to sit down and that I had a present for him. I handed him a gift bag that contained a photo of the positive pregnancy test and my favorite book as a child, "Love You Forever". Needless to say, he immediately caught on.
Mike's reaction was such a joy. He cried and smiled and was practically speechless. It was one of the
best days of my life. Here are a few images that captured the setup.
