Week 32 {Development}

By now, Baby Suarez weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in mommy’s uterus. Mommy is gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to Baby Suarez. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

Week 31 {Development}

This week, Baby Suarez measures over 16 inches long. She weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. She can turn his head from side to side, and her arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin. She's probably moving a lot, too, so mommy may have trouble sleeping because Baby Suarez’s kicks and somersaults keep mommy up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that Baby Suarez is active and healthy.

Week 30 {Development}

Baby Suarez is about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in mommy’s uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision—which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

Checking In {Week 29}

How far along? 29 Weeks
Total weight gain: Since our home scale broke and the one in the employee restroom tells untruths, I've decided to only report on my weight after I return home from my doctor's appointments every 2 weeks. Stay tuned for Week 30, hopefully I will have gained weight by then!
Maternity clothes? Pretty much living in my maternity jeans, but all other clothes still fit!

Stretch marks? Still hanging in there without any to show for. But, if they're coming, they're coming... not much I can do about it.
Sleep: Terrible lately. I finally bought a body pillow and it helps when I'm laying on one particular side... unfortunately, it does not work well for those who toss and turn like myself.
Best moment this week: My 30th birthday! I really have embraced turning 30 for a long time, but never as much as I have since I've been pregnant. It's just an amazing feeling when everything seems to be falling into place and happening at the right time. My wonderful friend Lauren had us over for a birthday dinner on Wednesday and that pretty much made my week!!

Miss Anything?  The birthday was a little difficult to celebrate without a little champie, but that's a given. I actually kind of miss seeing my feet. I can only look at them when I put them up!
 Baby girl is a serious kicker. Very regular movement is occurring now and I love it!
Food cravings:  McDonald's McFlurry's. Never thought I'd see the day.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken, chicken, chicken. Get it away from me.
Gender: GIRL!
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: Still really restless legs. It's a really terrible thing I don't wish upon anyone.
Belly Button in or out? In! I can't believe it has not popped out yet. And, although I haven't gained any weight, my belly is growing based on the measurements the doctor takes so I thought I would definitely have an "outie" by now. Maybe in another week or so...
Wedding rings on or off? On. Still no trouble in this department.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I've noticed most of my mood swings have subsided... most. Either that or my husband has lost all energy to even comment on the topic.

Week 29 {Development}

Baby Suarez now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. Her muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and her head is growing bigger to make room for her developing brain. To meet her increasing nutritional demands, mommy will need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because her bones are soaking up lots of calcium, milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice) is important. This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in Baby Suarez’s hardening skeleton each day.

{Gender Revealing Party}

As most of you know, my husband and I have disagreed from day one on finding out the gender of our little bun in the oven. I wanted to wait, he was dying to know. But, now in to month 7 and after numerous debates, I gave in and we decided to know if tucks and airplanes or ribbons and bows are in our future. That said and at my husbands request, we weren't going to settle for finding out in just any old manner. We landed on a gender revealing party and a surprise cake celebrated with close family and friends.

Checking In {Week 28}

How far along? 28 Weeks
Total weight gain: 12 pounds. For those keeping track, I have not gained any weight in about 4 weeks... most of it attributable to being incredibly sick.

Maternity clothes? They are definitely a part of my wardrobe.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Codine helps I can tell ya that.
Best moment this week: Finding out we're having a sweet baby girl! Our gender revealing party was over the past weekend :)

Miss Anything?  As excited as I am to know we're having a girl, there is still a part of me that really misses the element of being surprised.
This girl is ACTIVE!
Food cravings:  Pasta and Oreos.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Ehhh. Nothing new... same old stuff.
Gender: GIRL
Labor Signs: No

Symptoms: Hard to tell being sick as a dog. All I can think about is how badly I want to lose this annoying cough and aggravating congestion.
Belly Button in or out? In! And it itches!
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Happy! Happy!
