Baby likes turning tricks in my belly. Movement occurs every night before I fall asleep and usually every afternoon around 2:00.
Food cravings:  Bagels and cream cheese and turkey bacon.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Chicken.
Gender: ???
Labor Signs: No

Symptoms: The usual suspects - headaches, crankiness (although it's getting better), hair falling out, nasty bleeding gums... the list goes on.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy. The move was a bit stressful, but we're getting more and more settled each day.

Little Smokies

I went to paint my toes tonight, in sheer amazement that I can actually still do it, and realized how swollen my feet and toes have become!!! I now refer to them as my Little Smokies because my toes look like those tiny cocktail wieners my Aunt Freda serves at Christmas time. At least for now I can still get them into all of my shoes!

Week 23 {Development}

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, Baby Suarez can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), Mommy may be able to see her squirm underneath her clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now—such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner—probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

Week 22 {Development}

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, Baby Suarez is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside Mommy’s womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas—essential for the production of some important hormones—is developing steadily.

Week 21 {Development}

Baby Suarez now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long—the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, Baby Suarez’s eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Music To My Heart

For months I've intended on posting the lyrics to a song I find myself constantly listening to... "New Day" by Kanye West and Jay-Z - an emotional two-verse track off their collaboration album released in 2011.  From the first moment I heard the track I loved it, mostly because it's a rap from two men with major street cred speaking from their hearts about the day they have a son, but more so because of the positive values they want to instill in their unborn children. I didn't think I would find a song I loved more.... until today. But then again, why would I ever doubt Jay-Z?!

Jay-Z released "Glory" and my love for hip hop (and him in particular) was taken to an all new height. You can listen to it here, or check out the lyrics below:

The most amazing feeling I feel
Words can’t describe the feeling for real
Baby I paint the sky blue
My greatest creation was you, you
Glory
Ooooh Glory

False alarms and false starts
All made better by the sound of your heart
All the pain of the last time
I prayed so hard it was the last time
Your mamma said that you danced for her
Did you wiggle your hands for her?
Glory, Glory, Glory, Sorry
Everything that I prayed for
God’s gift, I wish I would’ve prayed more
God makes no mistakes, I made a few
Rough sledding here and there, but I made it through
I wreak havoc on the world, get ready for part 2
A younger, smarter, faster me
So a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of Béy

Glory
The most amazing feeling I feel
Words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real
Baby I paint the sky blue
My greatest creation was you

Your grand pop died, a nigga fell yeh
Then he died of liver failure
Deep down he was a good man
God damn, I can’t deliver failure
Bad ass Lil Hov
2 years old, shopping on Savile Row
Wicked ass lil B
Hard not to spoil you rotten looking like little me
The most beautifulest thing in this world
Daddy’s little girl
You don’t yet know what swag is
But you was made in Paris
And mama woke up the next day and shot her album package
Last time the miscarriage was so tragic
We was afraid you disappeared
But nah, baby you magic (voilà)
So there you have it, shit happens
Make sure the plane you on is bigger than your carry on baggage
Everybody goes through stuff
Life is a gift love, open it up
You’re a child of destiny
You’re the child of my destiny
You’re my child with the child from Destiny’s Child
That’s a hell of a recipe
Glory, Glory, Glory, Sorry

Week 20 {Development}

We've reached the half way mark!!!

Baby Suarez weighs about 10.5 ounces now. He's also around 6.5 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel—the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom—the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).
